It's been 2 weeks but I feel very proud of myself! I have committed myself to controlling what I eat and how much of it I eat. It's been a bit difficult simply because I love food. I think about going on diets but I can't restrict what I eat; there are way too many good things out there :-)
What have I been doing?
I've cut out drinking any kind of juice and soda. Once in a while I'll have some premium orange juice for breakfast but that's about it. If I feel the urge to drink something sweet I have some Arizona Tea Goji Berry instant drink mix. It's like Crystal Light. Besides that I drink lots of water although I feel like I should drink more of it.
I'm cutting out sweets although I do cheat every here and then. Instead of eating 5 or 6 Hershey's kisses I'll just eat 1. Of course not everyday!
Another thing I'm doing is keeping track of the time I eat and how often I eat. after breakfast and lunch I wait at least 3 hours before having a light snack. After each snack I try to wait 2 hours before the next meal. At first it was excruciating because I'm the type of person that likes to nibble all day long. After a couple of days and lots of will power it's getting easier. In total, I end up having 3 meals and 2 snacks. Important...don't go for seconds! I tend to do it and just realized that after finishing the first plate of food I'm always full but just want to keep eating and eating. Now, while I eat I try to savor every bite and it's been working.
The last thing I've been doing is not eating after dinner. I read somewhere that you shouldn't eat 3 hours prior to going to bed.
I'm already seeing results; not only in the clothes but in the way I feel! I'll be honest... I'm want to lose weight for two reasons. I'd really like to go back to being a size 9-10 or 11-12; right now I'm a size 18 and I don't feel comfortable. The next reason, which is probably the most important...I want to be healthy for my baby.

10 Minute Trainer
A couple of weeks ago my husband ordered The Beach Body 10 Minute Trainer. It consists of five 10 minute workouts-cardio, yoga, lower body, total body and abs. All of the workouts were created by Tony Horton.
Today, I have officially started my exercise regime. I started out with the 10 minute cardio set while my 10 month old took his mid-day nap. I have to say it's a good workout if you haven't exercised in a long time. It did me good despite the fact that I fractured my femur a few months ago and am still limping. What I mean to say it's not a complicated routine but it is effective. I worked up quite a sweat during those 10 minutes. The cardio segment basically consists of 10 back to back exercises with no break in between. The program recommends that you do at least 3 different segments per day but, I plan to keep it down to one until I get the hang of things.
I plan to do 2 days straight of cardio followed by a day of total body and so forth. It's better than not doing anything at all :-). I still haven't taken my measurements but will do so this week along with the before pictures. Still thinking if I should post them. hmmm

Let's get fit and healthy :-)
If you just had a baby or have gained a few unwanted pounds and want to get back to being healthy and fit then this is the blog for you. I had a baby in March 2009 and I have to say I gained almost 50 lbs. After the first month I lost almost 30 lbs. between the baby, placenta, excess water and everything else that your body produces to help your baby during the pregnancy. But, I have to say these last 20 lbs. just don't want to budge.
Basically I'll be writing about how I will be trying to improve my eating habits; I'll be writing about my exercise regime and I'll also include helpful tips that I pick up along the way or read about.
I'd also like to use my blog as a way to meet people who also wish to do the same as me. This can be an exciting way to meet new people, give eachother support and learn from eachother. :-)
I'm no fitness or diet expert so don't take anything I say as a complete truth.
So join me and we can all get on the right track to saying farewell to the flab and hello to being healthy, fit and fabulous.
